Winter salads here we come! We emptied the compost bin a few Sundays ago and shoveled the contents, sticky and smelly, onto the ‘greens’ patch. Instantly, the greens looked, well, greener. You can see a few holes from greedy slugs, and for some reason the leaves, once they get a certain age, acquire a dusty patina (Holloway Road mould?) so it pays to eat these babies young and uncooked, sliced thinly in a salad.
